Lost in Translation – Learning to Communicate in Addiction RecoveryJanuary 14, 2019
The Goldilocks Zone
Why is there abundant life and intelligence on planet earth and not on any other planet in the solar system? Location, location, location. Let me explain:
The earth is perfectly located, and as such, is conducive to life. If the earth were closer to the sun, our oceans would boil away. If the earth were farther from the sun, our oceans would be frozen. We are in the Goldilocks Zone, an area where it’s not too hot, not too cold; it’s just right. In such an environment, life thrives. Now, the next logical question: Why the heck are we talking about this?
Because we need to find our Goldilocks Zone of recovery.
If we truly wish to experience a robust recovery, it’s best to do it where conditions are most favorable. We do best when we focus on our recoveries. We do best when we read recovery and spiritual material. We do best when we attend meetings. We do best when we engage in fellowship with others. We do best when we work the steps. We do best when we are of service to others. We do best when we don’t waste our time worrying. We do best when we forgive and forget. We do best when we love. We do best when we pray and meditate. We do best when we remain grateful. Most importantly, we do best when we stay balanced. Remember, we never want to run too hot or too cold. We do best when we stay just right. Find your Goldilocks Zone.

I'm beyond thankful that I chose Rocky Mountain Treatment Center for inpatient treatment. It wasn't my first rodeo, but definitely my last. I learned about myself and left with the tools I need to live a sober happy life. I can now be the woman my family needs me to be. The staff is beyond amazing! Especially the ones that you see every day. They have all been where you are at, and openly share their stories and insight. I made friends there that I keep in contact with on a regular basis. The first treatment center I went to seemed sterile and hospital like. Rocky Mountain is small enough that you get lots of help to work on you! I am coming up on 5 months sober now. I know it is up to me, but I wouldn't be in this great place without them!
Absolutely changed my life. This is not a facility that you go to to just quit drinking or drugging. The staff there cares deeply about every aspect of your life...therefore you leave there a changed person. I had to want to trust the process. But when I did, everything I needed prepared me for the the journey ahead as I walked out those doors to face an uncertain world. I didn't want to leave but I had all of the tools I needed. And....I had access to counselors afterwards through aftercare as well. I refer all those I come in contact that have a need to Rocky Mountain Treatment Center first. I am forever grateful to them.
Rocky Mountain saved my life. I was "terminally unique" when I came. I had a rationalization for all the craziness in my life caused by alcohol - the common theme being it was someone else's fault. The staff here get it - most of them are in recovery themselves. They were able to show me my "stinking thinking" and gave me the tools to live a meaningful sober life. I am eternally grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the whole Rocky Mountain team!
My name is Chris. After struggling with Alcoholism for over 30 years, the center opened my eyes to a new life. The counseling and care I received were excellent! The tools for a sober life that they taught me I will always use, “one day at a time.” I am writing this with a heart full of gratitude because the treatment center saved my life. I thank God every day for bringing me there. Always Grateful
Don't give up five minutes before the miracle happens. I was ready to give up. RMTC gave me back my life!
