12- Step Model
* You take the first step -- We will walk beside you the rest of the way!
Restores sense of humanness – Breaks down denial – Promotes an inner purpose
A Design for Living
The 12- Step Model was formulated by Alcoholics Anonymous in 1935, and is used by approximately 74 percent of addiction treatment centers.
The foundation of the model is mutual support. Shared suffering from addiction leads to shared understanding and mutual bonds that promote long-term sobriety. Nearly all the staff at Rocky Mountain Treatment Center are in recovery themselves, making them uniquely qualified to help those starting the path to recovery. The first step of the twelve, for most, is the hardest and perhaps the most important.
Step 1: Honesty -- you admit that you are powerless to overcome your addictions and that your life has become out of control. The 12-Step Model not only helps in the initial phase of recovery, but is an essential tool in attaining long-term sobriety and a more meaningful life.
