John Johns
Clinical Director
I am John Johns, I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor here at Rocky Mountain Treatment Center. I was born and raised in Portland Oregon where I spent most of my young adulthood battling addiction. I found myself at a point in 2004 where I had a chance to learn the skills to live as a man of integrity through residential treatment and found the principles of the 12-step community in my area. I completed my associate’s degree in addictions studies at Portland Community College and then transferred to Warner Pacific College where I received a B.S. in Human Development in May 2011. Throughout that experience, I found a personal connection to God which strengthened my connection to my recovery and drive to help the newcomer.
In 2009 I received my certification in Oregon as an addictions counselor and have been fortunate to be able to teach individuals the importance of living through faith and guidance of a loving God. I have been blessed to have the opportunities to grow in the field of addictions and have learned leadership qualities that many said I would never possess. Being a part of a team is everything to me because it allows me a connection to like-minded individuals and an avenue to provide an experience for the clients we serve and assist them with the direction and care they may have never known.
My wife and I have 4 children, 3 of which are adults, 25, 25, and 26, and one who is 16 and still at home with us. We have a grandson who is in Portland with his mother and without recovery, I would not be the father, “poppa”, or husband that I am today. The decision to move to Montana came in September and has been one of the greatest decisions I have made to date. Rocky Mountain Treatment Center is the type of treatment center I have looked for my whole life because of the team and the ideals of treatment systems.
