The Procrastination List
I believe that everyone maintains a procrastination list. You know, a list of the things that we put off for later because they are difficult and uncomfortable. These are the things that we feel we don’t have the grace to deal with today. This is the wreckage of the past undealt with. I have such a list.
This list has taken years to develop. It is full of things that happened during different eras in my life. It is the definitive collection of the hardest of all things. That is why we habitually choose to deal with it later. But later can only go on for so long and then, later turns into a now, a time to finally address these things. I have found myself at such an impasse today.
At this point, we find we have two choices:
1. Keep that stuff on the back burner on a low boil indefinitely and suffer the plague that that is;
2. Pull that crap to the front of the stove and take care of it.
The messes in our life do not go away automatically just because we no longer drink or that we turned into swell people. Unfinished business does not finish itself. Until we deal with that stuff, we can’t enjoy the riches of what happens after we have dealt with that stuff.
So, here I sit with a massive list of things I have put off forever, I have to deal with it and I have absolutely no idea how that is going to happen. Mannnnnn! Okay, I will start with making a list of all the things on which I have been procrastinating and schedule time to deal with it post haste. I will definitely do that later today.
Thank you
Jim
