I was born in Topeka, Kansas and transplanted to Great Falls when I was 3 years old. Growing up I always struggled with fitting in. That ultimately led to me using drugs and alcohol to cope and “fit” in, starting when I was 13. I hit rock bottom when I was arrested and charged with multiple crimes. I was in and out of jail when I was 18, finally, I was sentenced to Drug Treatment Court. In that time, I was required to attend Intensive Outpatient Treatment and there I learned coping mechanisms that helped me deal with the events in my past that lead to my addictive behavior.
I came to Rocky Mountain Treatment Center during a family week for a loved one and decided that I wanted to give what was freely given to me in the 12-Step Program. Being a part of the client’s journey has been an amazing and extremely rewarding experience. Working here I get to share my experience, strength, and hope and show people that you truly can have an amazing life after addiction.
Since being sober, I have completed Drug Treatment Court, I am celebrating almost 2 years sober and gained a love of the outdoors. I am active in local recovery groups and found life-long friends in the program. I never knew that I would be living a life in recovery and enjoying the little things that life has to bring.
